Description
Princess is a special little girl. The vet says she is only about 3 1/2 years old, in good health. She weighs about 8 lbs. She was rescued from an abusive home, but her rescuer died of cancer just 3 months later. The woman's husband kept Princess but pretty much ignored her and kept in a bedroom for most of the next 9 months until he had to move into assisted living and the woman's sister came to her rescue and contacted me about Princess. So she has been with me for 6 months. She is still fearful of crowds and other dogs most of the time, but is not nearly as bad as 6 months ago. She is sweet and, once she gets to know you, likes to cuddle now and then. She is not a kisser. She will not be one to insist on your undivided attention, like many Chis do. This past month, she has started to play with my husband, though she won't with me. It seems she prefers men. I think she may have occasional nightmares, because several times I have found her cowering behind the toilet, just shaking terribly. I hold her snuggle sack in front of her and call her and then she will crawl into it. Then I pick it and her up and hold her for several minutes before she calms down again. She has a bad under-bite and will not eat hard food. After 5 months, she has started to try to play with one of our other dogs, but each time, a third dog gets involved and then she retreats bag to her bed. She is pretty much housebroken, except sometimes at night, but she will go on a pee pad in her pen. Princess needs a calm home without a lot of people coming and going and no kids or cats. One other dog would be acceptable if it's a small, calm dog. Rambunctious dogs terrify her.
